After the crazy rumor of a departure on the LIV, it is finally a return to the mysteries of the PGA Tour that Rory McIlroy should make in the coming days.

Not a week goes by without Rory McIlroy be at the heart of the news.

At the Masters everyone hoped to see the Northern Irishman complete the career grand slam and finally put on the green jacket after 15 unsuccessful attempts.

The day after Scottie Scheffler’s coronation at Augusta, it was the rumor of a departure on Rory’s LIV which set the golf world on fire and this week it is his probable return to politics which is shaking up the web.

Departure of Webb Simpson

Barely a few months after his withdrawal from the players’ council, Rory McIlroy will therefore make his return to the meetings where the future of the PGA Tour is decided. A vote must take place this Wednesday, after the resignation of Webb Simpson. The winner of the 2012 US Open himself named McIlroy as his future successor.

This return of McIlroy to the front line could go in the direction of a rapprochement with the LIV since the Northern Irish maintains good relations with Yasir Al-Rumayyan who runs the PIF (Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund) and that he campaigns for a reunification of the circuits.

How will Cantlay and Spieth vote?

In fact, for several months McIlroy has continued to explain that golf is in danger, highlighting a lack of public interest caused by the emergence of the LIV and the numerous fractures that have appeared between players.

Note that among the voters there are of course Tiger Woodsbut also Patrick Cantlay et Jordan Spieth.

The first had trouble with Rory McIlroy during the last Ryder Cup while Spieth and McIlroy had to explain themselves in early February after the Texan suggested that an alliance with the PIF was no longer necessary.
