Robur et Fides Varese Dominates Judo Qualifiers for Italian Championship

The judo section of Robur et Fides Varese delivered a stellar performance at the qualification stage for the Italian A/2 Championship, held this past Saturday, February 21st, at the Palalovato in Gorle. Ten athletes representing the Varese club across the U18 (Cadet) and U21 (Junior) categories secured a remarkable number of qualifications for the next stage of the competition.

U21 Standouts Lead the Way

The U21 competition saw Nicolò Assi (100kg) claim a silver medal, finishing as runner-up. Davide Peccini (66kg) secured a bronze medal after a convincing journey. Both athletes had already earned qualification through the ranking list, alongside Giulio Molinaro (90kg) and Claudia Gusmini (44kg), demonstrating the team’s continuity and constant presence at regional and national summits.

Cadets Excel, Securing Final Spots

The Cadet athletes continued the success, with six securing passes to the A/2 final. Diego Lucarelli (46kg) finished second, while his twin brother, Thomas, took third in the 50kg category. Federico Serafini also earned a silver medal in the 50kg division, falling short only in the final. Federico Paietta (55kg) achieved a seventh-place finish, bolstered by two crucial qualifying victories.

Double Podium Finishes Highlight Team Strength

The 60kg category saw a double podium finish with Marco Moscatelli taking second place and Matteo Brenno Andreoletti securing third. Viola Martignoni (70kg), already qualified via ranking, will also compete in the Cadet final. Edoardo Mentasti (73kg, U21) and Enrico Mauri Apolloni (60kg, U18) were stopped at the preliminary stages, but the overall results were overwhelmingly positive.
