Real Madrid Officially Signs Young English Star Jude Bellingham

Real Madrid’s success over the years has been largely due to their incredible midfield, and the signing of the 19-year-old English football star Jude Bellingham is a significant step in the club’s continuous rejuvenation of this core area. The club made an official announcement about the acquisition of this young prodigy, who spent the last three seasons playing for Borussia Dortmund and recently led England to the quarterfinals of the Qatar World Cup.

“Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on the transfer of Jude Bellingham, who will remain with our club for the next six seasons,” said Madrid in a brief statement. The talented midfielder, who hails from Birmingham, will be under contract with the club until 2029.

Meanwhile, BVB had already announced an agreement in principle last week and officially bid farewell to Bellingham on social media on Wednesday. After playing in 132 matches and scoring 24 goals for the black-and-yellow team, he leaves for an amount of €103 million (USD 110 million), plus bonuses that could potentially increase the total to 30% of that amount.

The newest galactic signing of Real Madrid will be presented on Thursday at a special event at the training center, as opposed to Santiago Bernabéu stadium, which is currently undergoing construction. Bellingham will not be present at the event since he was not called up to the England team due to an injury.

The English Federation (FA) had communicated on Sunday that Bellingham would miss the qualifying matches for the 2024 Euro Cup against Malta and North Macedonia due to a hamstring problem. However, it is not a serious injury, and he will soon be able to join the ranks of Carlo Ancelotti.

Bellingham, who made his professional debut at only 16 years and 38 days in 2019, is part of Real Madrid’s recruitment strategy that includes promising young talents like French player Aurelien Tchouameni (23 years old), Eduardo Camavinga (20 years old), and Uruguayan midfielder Federico Valverde (24 years old). These young players are expected to take on the legacy left by veterans Luka Modric (37 years old) and Toni Kroos (33 years old).

Bellingham’s signing is currently the most significant acquisition made by Real Madrid this transfer window, following Brahim Diaz’s return from AC Milan and Fran Garcia’s arrival from Vallecano Ray. Moreover, Bellingham is now the most expensive English player of all time, surpassing Jack Grealish, Harry Maguire, and Jadon Sancho. He is also the second most expensive purchase in Real Madrid’s history, only behind Eden Hazard and ahead of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
