“Starting to receive guidance from coach Seung-gi Kim was a turning point in my career as a player”

Lee Jung-hyun proved her competitiveness on the international stage by scoring 27 and 26 points in the first and second national team evaluation matches against Japan in July, respectively.
Lee Jung-hyun, who has been renewing her career high every season, has a goal for this year as a ‘team winner.’ Lee Jung-hyun, who is at the center of Sono in its second season since its re-establishment, feels a heavy burden on her shoulders.
Lee Jung-hyun played an average of 36 minutes and 43 seconds in 44 games last season, scoring 22.8 points. In a game against Busan KCC in February, he recorded a double-double with 42 points, 4 rebounds, and 11 assists, setting his own single-game scoring record.
He was also selected as the first unanimous round MVP in professional basketball history.
It was the best season for Lee Jung-hyun personally, but the team situation was not good. After many twists and turns, Sono, which was re-established, finished the regular season in 8th place and failed to advance to the playoffs.
Lee Jung-hyun met with reporters in Taipei, Taiwan, where Sono’s spring training is underway, and said, “Last season, although my personal performance was good, I felt regretful and empty.” She added, “This season, I want to lead the team to many victories without worrying too much about my personal records.”
Sono acquired Lee Jae-do (33) through a trade, building the strongest guard lineup consisting of Lee Jeong-hyeon and Lee Jae-do.
Lee Jung-hyun said, “When I played with (former) Sung-hyun, I would look for Sung-hyun’s chances first and then try to find an attack route for me or a foreign player, but this season, playing with (Lee) Jae-do, the physical and offensive burden has been greatly reduced,” adding, “I think we’ll be able to be more efficient without having to hold the ball for too long like last season.”
Lee Jung-hyun said, “The national team evaluation match against Japan last July was a big turning point,” and “It was a match that made me want to become a better player.”
He named Japanese national team player Yuki Kawamura as an impressive player.
Lee Jung-hyun said, “I got goosebumps watching Yuki Kawamura put on an amazing performance against a top European team, even though we were neither overwhelmingly behind nor winning in the match-up, but it was a close match.”
Lee Jung-hyun, who has been receiving a lot of attention as a guard prospect since his debut season, has been growing steadily. He said, “I have improved tremendously since my debut, taking on the role of point guard and main ball handler,” and “Starting to receive coach Kim Seung-gi’s guidance was a turning point in my career as a player.”
Lee Jung-hyun’s goal for the new season is the team’s victory rather than his own.
“The most important thing to me is the team’s performance,” he said. “It’s been a long time since the Goyang team won the championship. My first goal is to have a season where the team performs well.”
