Prad Nalam: Multifaceted Flagship High Senior Making Waves Through Badminton and Debate
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Senior Prad Nalam has left an indelible mark on Flagship High, breaking boundaries through his passion for badminton, debate club, and Model UN.
Badminton: From India to FHC
Prad’s badminton journey began in his home country, India. He honed his skills while living in Virginia and now, he’s bringing this popular Asian sport to FHC.
“It’s a huge thing in Asia,” Prad said. “So everyone plays it commonly, no matter the age. Kids play it. And then I came here, and no one’s playing it.”
Despite the lack of interest, Prad started a badminton club to share his love for the sport. He and his friends meet weekly after school for games.
Debate Club: A Serious Hobby
Prad’s involvement in the debate club has made him a formidable competitor. He’s quick to dismiss the idea that debate is boring.

Model UN: Representing Diplomacy
As Treasurer of FHC’s Model UN, Prad has attended conferences across the state, acting as different countries and working together to solve global issues.

Of all the places he’s lived, Prad ranked Grand Rapids at the top, citing its peaceful atmosphere and kind people.
