Incidents Across the City Center

Poitiers police had a busy weekend, responding to multiple fights, altercations, and attacks on bars and nightclubs. The nights of September 27 and 28, 2025, saw an uptick in violence, resulting in four arrests and two persons still at large.

First Episodes: Street Brawl and Nightclub Fight

Two initial incidents took place on the night of Friday to Saturday:

  1. Around 2 a.m. on Saturday, a group of three individuals walking down Rue de la Marne were violently attacked by a larger group of around 15 people, leading several to the Poitiers University Hospital. Only one complaint was filed.

  2. Later, near a nightclub on Boulevard du Grand-Cerf, reciprocal violence between two groups resulted in injuries, with no complaint filed despite the hospital visit.

Saturday into Sunday: Third Incident and Baseball Bat Attack

After 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, a group attacked others on the same Boulevard du Grand-Cerf. A 19-year-old girl was arrested with a baseball bat and a knife. Two young men are still wanted by police.

Earlier Incident: Bar Staff Attacked

Earlier in the evening, around 00:30, the staff of a downtown bar, rue du Chaudron-d’Or, were assaulted by three brothers, with a drink thrown at the manager. The three men, aged 33, 30, and 27, were placed in police custody.

Streets of Poitiers witnessed multiple altercations over the weekend.

Police Response and Investigation

Police indicate that this type of episode is the third noted recently in the city center. An investigation is underway to find the culprits in the Rua de la Marne incident, and two suspects are still wanted following the Sunday morning attack.
