Young CBC Athletes Prepare for Regional Challenge

Pont-à-Mousson (Meurthe-et-Moselle) will host the Grand Est youth championships this weekend, February 28th and March 1st, as three promising members of the Chaumont Badminton Club (CBC) – Marceau Delfosse, Manon Vollot, and Elsa Comte – prepare to compete against the region’s top young talent.

All three athletes have qualified for the prestigious event, representing a significant achievement for the CBC, the only club in the Haut-Marne department to have secured departmental titles among young players.

Facing a Tough Competition

The competition is expected to be fierce, particularly against athletes from Alsace. “It’s the top of the basket,” summarizes Delphine Catalifaud, the president of the CBC.

Delfosse will participate in both singles and mixed doubles, partnering with Vollot. Vollot will also compete in singles and women’s doubles alongside Comte. Comte will be the busiest of the three, playing in all three categories, including mixed doubles with Gabin Pesme from Troyes.

A Draw-Based Tournament

Participation is limited to departmental champions and the highest-ranked players, ensuring a high level of competition. Catalifaud acknowledges the challenge, stating, “We will try to go as far as possible. It’s a draw, although I consider the first place finishers will be exempt. Some players are among the best French people. You have to go there combatively.”

The singles and mixed doubles events will be decided through direct elimination. Catalifaud added, “If we pass one lap, it will already be a great performance.“
