Two teams, Navegantes del Magallanes and Águilas del Zulia, are risking it all to secure the sixth place and advance to the postseason. Yesterday, the Aguiluchos had an opportunity to secure their spot as they faced the Electricians. However, Magallanes displayed exceptional baseball skills, defeating the Zulianos and leveling the playing field. Today, Magallanes will face Bravos at home, while Águilas will face a tough challenge against Cardenales.
Possible Scenarios:
Scenario 1: Magallanes Wins, Zulia Loses
If Navegantes del Magallanes triumphs over Margarita and Águilas fall to Cardenales de Lara, the filibusteros will secure the sixth place and earn a spot in the wild card round. In this scenario, Águilas will bid farewell to the 2023/24 season.
Scenario 2: Zulia Wins, Magallanes Loses
If the Águilas del Zulia manage to defeat Lara while Magallanes succumbs to Bravos, Zulia will retain their place for the wild card. This outcome would mark Magallanes’ first elimination in the regular season since the 2016/17 campaign.
Scenario 3: Magallanes Wins, Zulia Wins
If both teams secure victories against Bravos de Margarita and Cardenales de Lara respectively, they will end the campaign with identical records of 25 wins and 31 losses. In this case, an extra game would be played at the José Bernardo Pérez Stadium in Valencia to determine the sixth place. Magallanes would have the advantage as they won the head-to-head series against Águilas.
Scenario 4: Magallanes Loses, Zulia Loses
In the event that Magallanes loses to Bravos at home and Zulia is defeated by Cardenales in Barquisimeto, a tie with records of 24-32 for the sixth place would occur. This tie would also lead to an extra game. The game would take place at the Luis Aparicio “El Grande” Stadium, with Águilas having the advantage of reaching 24 wins first.
