American Ryder Cup star Patrick Reed will compete in the Joburg Open at Houghton Golf Club from March 5-8, seeking a piece of DP World Tour history.
Chasing the International Swing Bonus
Reed is aiming to secure the $200,000 bonus awarded to the first winner of the International Swing, which would likewise grant him an exemption for all the Back 9 tournaments starting August 27.
Following Success in the Middle East
This appearance comes after a successful stretch for Reed, including a victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and the Qatar Masters, following a playoff loss in Bahrain.
Debut at Houghton Golf Club
The Joburg Open, co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the Sunshine Tour, marks Reed’s first participation in the tournament. He currently leads the International Swing rankings.

The 18th edition of the tournament will feature a competitive field, including South African Jayden Schaper and Englishman Andy Sullivan, both closely trailing Reed in the Race to Dubai standings.
Several former Joburg Open champions are also set to compete, including defending champion Calum Hill, Tristan Lawrence, Richard Sterne, Darren Fichardt, Dan Bradbury, and Shubhankar Sharma.
French players Julien Guerrier, Martin Couvrera, and Ugo Coussaud will also participate, bringing the total number of French competitors to seven in this $1.2 million tournament.
