Parma and Monza are ready to face each other for the first time in their history in Serie A.
If we include 3 previous matches played in the Italian Cup, Saturday’s match will be the 38th clash between the two teams. The balance is in favor of the red and whites (14W and 15D), but in recent times things have always gone better for the Emilians (8 successes in the balance sheet), who in the double comparison in the 2021/2022 Serie B championship had obtained two draws: on 2 March 2022 , at the home of the Brianza, ended in a draw (1-1), as did the first leg (0-0) played on 17 October 2021 at the “Tardini”. Two results that had allowed the Crociati to extend their unbeaten series against the red and whites, which has been going on for 6 games (1W, 5D): the last success of the Monza team actually dates back to 24 March 1985 (3-0), again in the tournament cadet.
But what matters most is the close relevance and progress of the two teams, who have to face their respective seasonal “allergies”. The guests, last in the standings, changed their technical leadership despite a less than encouraging performance (1 win, 7 draws and 9 defeats). The team that belonged to Alessandro Nesta, and which will now be led by Salvatore Bocchetti, is demonstrating a certain intolerance towards the teams that moved up from Serie B: no victory in the last three matches against newly promoted teams in Serie A (2N, 1L), drawing the two of this championship (against Venezia and Como), after having obtained 4 successes in a row against these teams in the top tournament.
However, Monza is the team that has gained the highest percentage of points away from home this season in Serie A (70%): 7 of its 10 points, in fact, have come away from home.
For its part, Parma is, together with Monza, one of the only two teams that in the current season have not yet managed to keep a clean sheet in their home matches. More generally, the Crociati have conceded goals in all of their last 14 Serie A home games (34 goals conceded, 2.4 on average): the last clean sheet at the “Tardini” in Serie A dates back to 14 March 2021 (2-0 against Roma).
