Judokas over 50 wrap up year with ‘O soto otoshi’ course in Gambach

December was a memorable month for HJV’s over-50 recreational sports area. The course on ‘O soto otoshi’ in Gambach, Germany, marked the conclusion of a successful year. The event, attended by 18 judokas, was followed by an end-of-year dinner featuring a hearty meatloaf.

Nine courses, 147 judokas, and a Dan promotion

Swift and engaging, the five-hour grassroots sports courses for people over 50 were a hit among judokas of all ages and belt levels. A total of nine courses took place this year, with 147 judokas on the mat. Notable attendees included Sven Deeg, HJV president, and Petra Seibert.

At the last course on December 7th, Sven Deeg honored Wolfgang Geissler on behalf of the Honorary Council. Geissler received the 5th Dan certificate for his extraordinary contributions to the development, promotion, and dissemination of judo.

Dates set for 2026 over-50 judo courses

The upcoming year is already shaping up to be exciting. The dates and organizing clubs for the over-50 recreational sports courses in 2026 have been set and are published on the HJV website.
