We review every week what happens to our athletes who play outside the Region of Murcia

Outsiders Murcianos come for another season. In this section we review what happens to players, coaches and other athletes in the world of basketball who come from our land but who compete outside the Region of Murcia. If you know of an “outsider” who is not on the list, you can send us the information at comunicacion@fbrm.org so we can include them and follow up.

IMPORTANT NOTE: in this list we include players, coaches and trainers who compete OUTSIDE OUR REGION and NON-REGION CLUBS.

  • Chumi Ortega, Álex Hernández, Luismi Castillo and Cristobal Sánchez (Endesa League)

Chumi Ortega will play this season for Morabanc Andorra, after becoming one of the most outstanding players last season at Zunder Palencia. Victory on the court of Baxi Manresa (107-111), with 5 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists from Yeclano. Tenth place for the Andorrans (5-6) who visit FC Barcelona on Sunday (5:00 pm).

Álex Hernández achieved promotion to the Endesa League a few months ago, as captain of Leyma Coruña. Victory at the Girona Basketball court (81-98), with a rebound for the Murcian point guard. 15th position for the Galicians (4-7), who this coming Sunday receive the visit of Joventut de Badalona (12:30).

Luismi Castillo whistled Real Madrid 106-69 Río Breogán with Esperanza Mendoza and David Sánchez, while Cristóbal Sánchez whistled Básquet Girona 81-98 Leyma Coruña Básquet with Javier Torres and Yasmina Alcaraz.

  • Laura Gil, Isa Latorre and Franky García (LF Endesa)

Another season, Laura Gil will be one of the references in the painting of Perfumerías Avenida. Victory against Joventut de Badalona (96-69), with 7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists (13 PIR) from the Murcian. Second position for the Salamanca team (10-2), before visiting Hozono Global Jairis this coming Sunday (12:00).

In the Euroleague, lost at home to Tango Bourges Basket (80-67) with 15 points and 9 rebounds (20 PIR) from Laura. Fifth position in Group E (3-5), before hosting Zabiny Brno on January 8 (20:30).

Point guard Isa Latorre signed this summer for Movistar Estudiantes, jumping to LF Endesa after a few seasons at Recoletas Zamora. Victory against Osés Construction Ardoi (71-62), with 4 rebounds and 2 assists from the sewer base. Ninth position for the Madrid team (6-6), which next Sunday will visit the Spar Girona court (18:10).

In the Eurocup, after the (82-77) first leg, they tied 59-59 against VBW Gdynia, who qualified for the Round of 16. Isa contributed 2 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. On January 8 they will play the first leg at home against the French team Villeneuve d’Ascq LM (20:00).

Finally, assistant Franky García joined the discipline of Lointek Gernika this summer to be part of the coaching staff led by Lucas Fernández, who is his partner at Hozono Global Jairis. The victory against Spar Gran Canaria (56-85), allowed the Basques to place themselves in eighth position (6-6). Next game, on Saturday against Celta Femxa Zorka (6:00 pm).

  • Juan Rubio and Alberto Antuña (First FEB)

Movistar Estudiantes is looking to be one of the favorites to achieve promotion to the Endesa League for next season with Juan Rubio in the squad and Alberto Antuña as assistant coach. Victory against HLA Alicante (85-70), with 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Third position of the Madrid team (11-1), which will visit UEMC Real Valladolid Baloncesto this Saturday (7:00 pm).

  • Alejandra Sánchez and Ana Faussurier (LF Challenge)

In the second step of national women’s basketball we see Alejandra Sánchez, who after leaving Hozono Global Jairis signed for Melilla Ciudad del Deporte La Salle. Victory against Horbisa Spirit Greenkw Barakaldo (67-55) with 3 points and 1 rebound from San Javier. Sixth position in the league (8-4), before visiting Barça CBS on Saturday (20:30).

After achieving promotion to LF Endesa with Osés Construction Ardoi, Ana Faussurier signed this summer for Alter Enersun CB Al-Qázeres. Victory against Unicaja Mijas (75-68), with 2 rebounds from yeclana. Seventh position (6-6), before visiting the Real Canoe track on Saturday (5:30 pm).

  • Antonio José Morales, Emilio Martínez, Fran Olmos and Juan S. Cutillas* (Second FEB)

This year we have two representatives of our basketball in the third national echelon. Antonio José Morales will repeat Clínica Ponferrada SDP, which saved the category and will continue with what was previously known as LEB Plata. Defeat against the leader Cáceres World Heritage Site (64-66), with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 1 assist from Lorca. Seventh position (6-5) in the West Group, before visiting the Insolac Caja 87 track next Sunday (12:30).

Second season for Emilio Martínez in charge of the CB Salou game, where he matches old acquaintances in regional basketball like Víctor Aguilar or Juanpe Jiménez, both of whom have a past at Odilo FC Cartagena. Victory against CB Santfeliuenc (68-96), with 1 assist from Murcia. Eighth position (6-5), before facing Gran Canaria this Sunday (12:30).

Finally, referee Fran Olmos didn’t blow his whistle this week.

  • Iraides García (Women’s League 2)

After achieving promotion last year, Iraides García will continue with CB Terralfàs Delfín Natura in the Women’s League 2. Defeat against Vega Lagunera Toyota Adareva Tenerife (83-69), with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists from Cartagena. Thirteenth position in Group A (2-8), before hosting Picken Claret on Sunday (12:30).

  • Ismael Rubio, Fran Garrido, Adrián Méndez, Miguel Alarcón, Juan S. Cutillas, Cristina Sanz, Joaquín Martínez, Óscar Santos, María José Molina, Álvaro Jiménez and Fran García* (Tercera FEB)

In the fourth national step, Ismael Rubio will repeat, who will once again defend the colors of LBC Cocinas.com from Rioja. For his part, after La Roda’s relegation from LEB Plata, forward Adrián Méndez signed this summer for Globalcaja Quintanar and will play in Tercera FEB with the Cuenca team. Victory against Fundación Globalcaja La Roda (68-45), with 22 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists for a PIR of 38. Leading Group BB (8-2) before facing this Friday against Fundación CB Canarias (7:00 pm).

Forward Miguel Alarcón renewed his contract with the Madrid team and will compete with Tercera FEB this season. Victory against Transportes Gobra Güímar (80-92), with 1 recovery for native Beniel. Second position in Group BB (8-2), before facing EB Felipe Antón this Sunday (12:00).

In the refereeing section, Álvaro Jiménez whistled for Ricasa Godella 69-102 El Pilar UPV with Alberto Perera; Juan Cutillas and Cristina Sanz refereed UCAM Murcia Juver 76-97 CBI Elche x Maxiwatt; María José Molina visited Klinik PM Carolinas 51-63 Servigroup Benidorm with Daniela Manda; Óscar Santos whistles Real Murcia Basketball 68-60 CB Jorge Juan Verde Carmencita with Daniela Manda; and Joaquín Martínez refereed Lucentum Alicante 59-85 Eset Ontinet with Daniel Cervantes.

  • Leire Zapata and Aitana Ruiz (N1 Women’s Andalusia)

They will share a team in Malaga, especially in the ranks of CB El Palo, the Murcians Leire Zapata and Aitana Ruiz.   • Javi Velasco (First National Men’s ESF)

Javi Velasco will play this year in Bilbao, specifically for CD La Salle Versia in the Primera Nacional Men. Victory against Megacalzado Ardoi (82-72), with 9 points from Javi. Fourth position (6-4), before playing on Sunday at the court of CB Santurtzi SK (11:45).

  • Marcos Sánchez (FBCV Male Preferred)

Marcos will compete, in the 24/25 campaign, in Group D of the FBCV Men’s Preferential Championship with CBI Elche x La Cordobesa. Defeat against Muro Básquet (43-71), with 14 points in caravaqueño. Eleventh position (2-7), before playing on Sunday in the court of CB Atlético Albatera (7:00 pm).

  • Carlos Imedio (Provincial Senior of Valladolid)

Forward Carlos Imedio will play this season for CD Pintia Basket from Valladolid. Defeat against Actium Corazonistas (50-82), with 10 points for native Pinata. Fourth position in the league (7-3), before facing his former team on Saturday, Gestores Administrativos CYL Bar Donde Javi La Salle (6:30 pm).

  • Be Almansa (NBL – Australia)

The center from Murcia, after playing last season in the G-League with Ignite, decided to sign with the Perth Wildcats with the goal of preparing to jump to the NBA through the Next Stars project of the Australian league. Victory against Cairns Tapians (92-128) with 9 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist from Izan. Fourth position in the league (10-8), before playing on Sunday against the Illawarra Hawks (2:30 pm).

  • Valentino Pinedo (NCAA – United States)

After playing last year with the East Carolina University Pirates, the Murcian center will play the University of Saint Francis. Victory over the Nebraska All-Stars (104-34) with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists from Marcela; and victory against the Wyoming All-Stars (93-37) with 8 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists and 6 recoveries from Murcian. Fourth position (9-7) in DI North.

  • Andrea López (CN2 – Portugal)

Andrea López, former player of Real Murcia, Maristas or Marme and others, will compete this year in CN2 in Portugal with Club 5Basket. Defeat against NCR Valongo / Válete (61-68). First position in North Group C (8-1), before facing AAUUTAD this Friday at 10:30 pm.

  • Pedro González (BBL – Germany)

Physical trainer Pedro González will continue on the coaching staff of German Basketball Löwen Braunschweig, in the Bundesliga. Victory over Frankfurt (91-92). Seventh position in the league (5-4), before facing Rostock this Saturday (6:30 pm).

In the FIBA​​​​​​Europe Cup the German team lost against Tofas Bursa (92-97), finished in second position in Group A with a balance of 3-3 and was eliminated from the competition.
