Oranienburg, Oberhavel – The best athletes of Oberhavel were recognized Friday evening at an awards ceremony in the Turm-Erlebniscity Oranienburg. The event celebrated outstanding achievements and dedication across various sports, with a record-breaking number of votes cast by the public.

More than 8,100 votes were submitted in the online election for “Athletes of the Year,” marking the highest participation rate in the event’s history. Clubs were given the opportunity to propose candidates online for the first time, streamlining the nomination process.
Luisa Kutscha Named Young Athlete of the Year
Nine-year-ancient judoka Luisa Kutscha was awarded the title of “Young Athlete of the Year.” Kutscha, representing the Oranienburg Judo Club, secured both individual and team national championships in 2025. She likewise competes as a gymnast at Stahl Hennigsdorf.
Zoe Dierig Crowned Sportswoman of the Year
Zoe Dierig, a triathlete from SV Stahl, earned the title of “Sportswoman of the Year” with over 4,530 votes – the highest total of all winners. Dierig quickly excelled in the sport, winning three national championship titles in triathlon, cross triathlon, and cross country running, all within 2025.
Kai Menzel Recognized for Endurance and Community Impact
Kai Menzel was named “Sportsman of the Year” for his achievements in ultra walking and his community involvement. Menzel serves as a sports director for SSV and played a key role in launching the “We from You” fundraising run. He excels in ultra walking, completing marches exceeding 100 kilometers in length.
Oranienburg Judo Club U11 Girls Take Team Title
The Oranienburg Judo Club’s U11 girls team was awarded “Team of the Year.” The team boasts several state individual champions and secured the team title in their discipline.

Mittelbrandenburgische Sparkasse (MBS) provided prize money for the winners. Individual athletes received €250 each, while the winning team received €500.
