Figure skating, the oldest sport at the Winter Games, will once again take center stage at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina, Italy. The competition is scheduled to take place from February 6th to February 22nd, 2026, at the Milano Ice Skating Arena.
What Events Will Be Featured?
At the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Games, five medal events will be awarded in figure skating:

Understanding the Disciplines
Each discipline within figure skating showcases unique skills and artistry:
Singles Skating
Singles skating, for both men and women, emphasizes individual performance, featuring jumps, spins, step sequences and choreographed routines. Skaters perform both a short program and a free skate.
Pairs Skating
Pairs skating involves a man and a woman performing elements requiring strength, precision, and unison. These elements include lifts, twist lifts, throw jumps, death spirals, spin combinations, and choreographic sequences.
Ice Dance
Ice dance prioritizes rhythm, musical interpretation, footwork, and dance holds. Competitors perform a rhythm dance and a free dance, focusing on precision and connection to the music. The Team Event
The team event brings together the five disciplines from up to 10 nations. Each nation fields one entry in each of the eight segments. The top five countries advance from the short program/rhythm dance performances to compete in all four free skate/free dance performances.
