American Star Returns for Eighth Paralympic Games

Masters has already secured an impressive 19 Paralympic medals across four different sports: Para cross-country skiing, Para biathlon, cycling, and rowing. Fourteen of those medals have been earned in Winter Paralympic competition.
Facing Challenges, Masters Remains Determined
Despite recent health setbacks, including recovering from a concussion and a bone infection in her leg, Masters is approaching the Games with her characteristic resilience. She shared her mindset on Instagram, stating, I don’t know what kind of skier I’ll be when I line up at the start line. I might not be my best, but I will have the will to not give up, to keep fighting and … Do what I can do. That’s what I’ve been doing my whole life. I’m not going to stop now.
A Legacy of Success
At the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics, Masters achieved a historic feat, becoming the first American to win seven medals at a single Paralympic Games in biathlon and cross-country competitions.
Team USA Support
Masters will have familiar support at the Games, as she is engaged to fellow Nordic skier Aaron Pike, who is also competing. Pike has competed in every Paralympics since 2012, initially launching his competitive career in wheelchair racing.
