Ohio State Women’s Basketball Routes Toledo 85-60 in Nike x Lego Showcase

The Ohio State Buckeyes women’s basketball team cruised to an 85-60 victory over the Toledo Rockets in the annual Nike x Lego Showcase on Sunday, demonstrating their dominance through an engaging, high-scoring game.

First Half: A Tight Affair

The first quarter saw 11 lead changes and neither team leading by more than three points. Kennedy Cambridge scored the first four points for the Buckeyes, but the Rockets stayed competitive, ending the quarter with a 20-17 lead.

The second quarter was just as back-and-forth, with Toledo opening the scoring but Ohio State responding with an 11-0 run. TheBuckeyes gained a glimpse of what was to come in the second half with a 37-33 lead at the break.

Second Half: Buckeyes Pull Away

Ohio State extended its lead to 59-47 by the end of the third quarter and then put the game out of reach with a 26-13 fourth quarter. The Buckeyes’ defense was a key factor, registering 10 or more steals for the fifth consecutive game.

“Our defense was really good today,” said Ohio State head coach Kevin McGuff. “We took care of the ball and got some good looks at the basket.”

  • Kennedy Cambridge led the Buckeyes with a career-high 23 points, her first 20-point game.
  • Chance Gray (15), Jaloni Cambridge (12), and T’yana Todd (10) also scored in double figures.
  • Kylee Kitts grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, her third game of the season with 10 or more rebounds.
  • Nine different Buckeyes tallied at least one steal.
