The 2025 Qatar Open has been upgraded to ATP 500 status, which will attract more players. Following Jannik Sinner’s confirmation, we now know that Novak Djokovic will also be competing between February 17th and 22nd next year.
It is a tournament strategically placed on the calendar as there is enough break after the Australian Open to prepare for the other two major hard court tournaments at the start of the season: Indian Wells and the Miami Open.
We’ll see if Carlos Alcaraz decides to join Djokovic and Sinner to complete a dream draw or if the Murcian prefers to take it easy at a stage of the season where there are alternatives to choose from.
In the last two seasons of the tournament in Doha, Russians Karen Khachanov (defeated Jakub Mensik last year) and Daniil Medvedev (Andy Murray’s executioner in 2023) have triumphed. A year earlier, Roberto Bautista Agut had won a tournament that Djokovic had already won twice and that Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray also won.
