North Chungcheong Province Aims to Become a Baseball Hub in South Korea

North Chungcheong Province, currently without a professional baseball team, is actively pursuing a vision to become a prominent baseball city in South Korea. This initiative includes significant investments in youth development and a proposal for a state-of-the-art dome stadium.

Youth Baseball Development Takes Center Stage

On February 21, 2026, North Chungcheong Province hosted a Baseball Class for Children with Dreaming Baseball at the Provincial Office Culture Plaza 815. The class aimed to revitalize daily sports participation among children and cultivate young baseball talent.

Fifty-nine young players from local little league and elementary school teams participated, receiving instruction from former professional baseball player and coach Jin-Woo Song, along with other professional coaches.

A New Stadium on the Horizon

Governor Kim Young-hwan has identified this year as a golden opportunity for North Chungcheong Province to establish itself as a baseball city. This ambition is fueled by a recent announcement from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism regarding the construction of a 50,000-seat dome stadium.

The proposed stadium is envisioned as a complex cultural and sports infrastructure capable of hosting large-scale K-content performances.
