From PGA Tour Struggles to DP World Tour Return

After a difficult season on the PGA Tour, Danish golfer Niklas Nørgaard is returning to the DP World Tour. The 33-year-old finished the regular season in 161st place in the FedEx Cup, with just one top-10 finish in 17 tournaments. Despite these struggles, Nørgaard is determined to continue playing in the US.

“I had trouble making results. There are a lot of good players, new courses, we are far from home, and I also had a lot of changes in my private life with the arrival of the baby. But I do not despair.”

Nørgaard, who won the right to play on the PGA Tour by finishing 11th in the 2024 Race to Dubai, admits that the experience was tougher than he expected. “It was a difficult learning experience,” he said. “It’s probably more difficult than I thought. I had trouble making results. But I do not despair. It is there that I want to play. Ultimately, I want to play on the PGA Tour.”

Upcoming Tournaments and Future Plans

  • Defending his title at the British Masters on September 3.
  • Playing at the Amgen Irish Open (September 4-7).
  • Participating in the BMW PGA Championship, a Rolex Series event, from September 11-14.
  • Potentially returning to the PGA Tour for the ‘Fall Series’ to retain his card for the 2026 season.

“Did you know?”

Nørgaard’s best result on the PGA Tour this season was a tied 5th place at the Myrtle Beach Classic.

Although Nørgaard will not start in the first FedEx Cup playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, he is not ruling out a return to the PGA Tour later this season. His ultimate goal is to play on the PGA Tour in 2026.
