Wimbledon Commentary: Kyrgios’ Surprise BBC Snub Sparks Debate
Kyrgios Questions BBC’s Decision
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios expressed surprise and disappointment after being overlooked by the BBC for Wimbledon commentary, asking, “When someone has beaten Federer, Nadal, Murray, and Djokovic… it is very strange that you did not want to have him at the microphone.”
“I understand that they chose Chris Eubanks, but he has not beat the greatest of all time. When someone beat Federer, Nadal, Murray and Djokovic and he has incredible knowledge, it is very strange that you did not want to have it at the microphone”
Eubanks Clarifies
Christopher Eubanks, the world No. 131, clarified the situation via Twitter, denying any involvement with the BBC this year:
All jokes aside…. I will not be working with BBC at Wimbledon this year. As far as I know, my team hasn’t even spoken to anyone from BBC so I’m not sure where that came from.
Kyrgios’ Commentary Debut?
This isn’t Kyrgios’ first brush with broadcasting. In 2024, he made his debut as a pundit for Amazon Prime Video during the US Open, receiving praise for his honest and engaging insights.
