New Jersey Devils Declare Victory Over Toronto Maple Leafs, 5-2

Maple Leafs Falter Midgame, Can’t Keep Pace

Jack Hughes, with his third career hat trick, and Cody Glass with two goals, led the Devils’ charge. Jesper Bratt added three assists, while Jake Allen made 23 saves for the victory.

John Tavares (goal, assist) and Matias Maccelli replied for the Maple Leafs. Anthony Stolarz stopped 30 shots in the loss.

Defensive Blip Costs Leafs

The Maple Leafs led 1-0 after the first period but conceded three goals in three minutes and 27 seconds early in the second period. Maccelli pulled one back for Toronto, but Hughes restored New Jersey’s two-goal lead before the intermission and sealed the win with an empty-netter.
