Catcher Kim Hyeong-jun Honored to Represent Korea in World Baseball Classic
Kim Hyeong-jun Replaces Injured Choi Jae-hoon
Professional baseball player Kim Hyeong-jun, catcher for the NC Dinos, will represent South Korea in the upcoming World Baseball Classic (WBC) following an injury to Choi Jae-hoon of the Hanwha Eagles.
“I am happy and honored to represent Korea in a big tournament called WBC,” said Kim Hyeong-jun through the NC club.
Kim Hyeong-jun’s Impressive KBO League Career
Last season, Kim Hyeong-jun played in 127 games, batting 0.232 with 18 home runs and 55 RBIs. He also received the 2025 season KBO League Catcher’s Defensive Award.
Preparation for WBC and Upcoming Season
Kim Hyeong-jun, who was training in Arizona, expressed his disappointment at not completing the U.S. training camp with his teammates but expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with new pitchers. He also assured fans that his wrist is in good condition.

WBC National Team Training Schedule
The Korean national team, led by coach Ryu Ji-hyun, will begin training in Okinawa, Japan, later this month before starting the WBC schedule on March 5 against the Czech Republic in Tokyo.
