While there are still, in total, less than ten spots available for 30 NBA teams, we can start counting down to the offseason, with the franchises once again earning hundreds of millions of dollars to sign all available free agents (waiting to understand where Gallinari is going). With the increase in the salary cap, dramatically increased by the revenues of the new television contract, salaries in the League continue to rise. With the new collective agreement, we are witnessing a kind of “double market”, with smaller and smaller (big) players changing teams in the offseason and more extensions.

In terms of contractual values, it is Jayson Tatum (Boston) signed the most important contract of the summerjust the biggest “deal” in NBA history: $314 million over five years. The new deal will start from the 2025/26 season. As for players nearing the end of their rookie contracts and receiving the maximum salary extension ($224 million) from their respective clubs: Franz Wagner (Orlando), Cade Cunningham (Detroit), Evan Mobley (Cleveland ) and Scottie Barnes (Toronto).

Regarding the pure “free agents”, i.e. players whose contracts are about to expire, who signed a new contract for the 2024/2025 season, OG Anunoby earned the most wages, thanks to 213 million dollars to be received in five years from New York. Just ahead of Paul George (Phila), and his 212 million in four years.
