National police: the government authorizes the recruitment of 2,000 non-commissioned officers

(Ouagadougou, May 8, 2024). The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE chaired the weekly Council of Ministers this Wednesday. According to the Minister of State, Government Spokesperson, Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO, the Council examined files and adopted several important reports for the smooth running of the Nation.

On behalf of the Ministry of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Security, the Council examined the general report on the organization of competitions for the National Police session 2023. It also authorized recruitment for the benefit of the Police national on professional and direct competitions session 2024.

“Police recruitment since 2023 follows a five-year plan 2023-2027. This takes into account the demographic growth, the strong urbanization of our cities in order to fight against crime in all its forms,” explained the Minister Delegate in charge of Security Mahamadou SANA.

On behalf of the same ministry, the council authorized the recruitment of 20 police commissioners and 50 police officers, under professional competitions. The recruitment of 10 police commissioners, 20 officers and 2,000 non-commissioned officers, including 50 women, will also be carried out through direct competitions.

The Minister Delegate in charge of security specified that the Council gave guidelines for a quota, in the recruitment of non-commissioned officers, for the benefit of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP), the Assistant Security Volunteers (VADS) and widows of defense and security forces who fell in the theater of operations.

Minister SANA also praised the self-sacrifice and determination of the defense and security forces engaged on the front of total liberation of the territory.

On behalf of the Ministry of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications, the Council adopted a decree laying down procedures for operating the digital platforms of the Public Administration.

According to the Minister of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications, Mrs. Aminata ZERBO/SABANE, the government is resolutely committed to accelerating the dematerialization of public administration procedures and services. This decree will allow the putting online of effective platforms which will improve the user experience.

“We are going to establish a graphic charter specific to the administration. This decree will also help us ensure that the platforms that are put online are secure and effectively protect user data,” she declared.

The public administration will now have a reliable, robust information system and interoperable platforms allowing it to take advantage of all the power of the data stored on these platforms.

The government thus intends to reform public administration, modernize it, make it more efficient in order to reduce processing times and facilitate people’s access to administration services.
