“Mouippon!” Anime Teams Up with All Japan Judo Federation for Enhanced Broadcast

Anime Series to Re-Air on NHK E-Tele

The TV anime Mouippon! which depicts the lives of high school girls dedicated to judo, is set for a re-broadcast on NHK E-Tele. The series originally aired from January to March 2023.

Collaboration with All Japan Judo Federation

A key element of this re-broadcast is a collaboration with the All Japan Judo Federation. This partnership aims to provide a more authentic portrayal of judo matches and the experiences of young athletes.

According to promotional materials, the collaboration will result in a series that depicts the matches, while also carefully portraying the brilliance of youth as life-sized high school girls do their best in the moment.

The story follows the experiences of a former judo practitioner reflecting on her high school years, including relationships and the challenges of the sport. The narrative touches upon the physical demands of judo – sunburn, gi abrasions, hair loss during ground training – and the difficulties of striving for improvement.
