Michigan Men’s Gymnastics Dominates in Season Opener, Topping Greenville and Simpson

Wolverines Impressive Across the Board

In their first competition of the year, the Wolverines showed no signs of rust, securing six event titles and asserting their dominance early on. Sophomore sensation (MGoblue.com)) étoiles took home the floor exercise and all-around titles, along with a share of the vault title, demonstrating his versatility and prowess on the mat. How the Wolverines Dominated

Rotation 1: Junior Jake Islam (MGoblue.com)) kickstarted the Wolverines’ campaign with a floor exercise score of 13.150. Osuna and Chiodi followed suit with scores of 13.000 and 13.650, respectively, while Chase Pappas made his collegiate debut with a score of 12.700. The Wolverines led with a score of 52.500, followed by Greenville (50.700) and Simpson (45.900).

Sophomore Zach Granados (MGoblue.com)) opened the second rotation with a solid 13.150 on the pommel horse, and captain Landen Blixt (MGoblue.com)) returned to the lineup after a season-ending injury, posting a score of 12.850. Aaronson Mansberger anchored the rotation with a 13.350. Michigan held its lead with a score of 103.500, ahead of Greenville (101.550) and Simpson (95.350).

The No. 1-ranked Wolverines will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to face off against Big Ten rivals No. 4 Illinois and No. 6 Ohio State in the Ohio State Open on Sunday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m.
