MONTREAL — The McGill University women’s basketball program is celebrating a successful season with multiple accolades from the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ). Lily Rose Chatila and Emilia Diaz-Ruiz have been named RSEQ all-stars, even as head coach Rikki Bowles earned Coach of the Year honors.
Lily Rose Chatila: First Team All-Star
Guard Lily Rose Chatila secured a spot on the RSEQ First Team All-Star list. The 22-year-old from Quebec City averaged 16.3 points per game, ranking second in the conference. She too excelled in free-throw shooting, achieving an 81.0% success rate (64-for-79). Chatila also contributed 1.7 steals per game, 2.0 assists, and maintained a 37.8% field goal percentage.
Emilia Diaz-Ruiz: All-Star and Leadership Award Recipient
Forward Emilia Diaz-Ruiz was selected for the second all-star team and also received the RSEQ Leadership and Citizenship Award. The 19-year-old from Hamilton, Ont., led the Martlets in rebounding with an average of 7.8 rebounds per game, while also contributing 11.1 points per game. She recorded four double-doubles this season, including two against Laval.
In a game against UQAM, Diaz-Ruiz grabbed 18 rebounds, becoming only the fourth player in program history to reach that mark in a single contest.
Diaz-Ruiz also boasts a 3.82 GPA and received the Prof. Dorothy Nichol Award in January 2026, recognizing her academic achievements and extracurricular contributions.
Rikki Bowles Named RSEQ Coach of the Year
Head coach Rikki Bowles was recognized as the RSEQ Coach of the Year. Bowles has guided the Martlets to improved results in each season, culminating in an 11-5 record and a return to the league championship game for the first time since 2018.
Looking Ahead
The Martlets will face Laval for the RSEQ banner, having split their four-game series during the regular season.
