Allison Schaefer, a second-year student, quickly ran towards third base while her fellow player Ava Cicchetti’s hit was stopped by Mara Gilkey, the shortstop for Broadneck. Slade hit a strong ball to the right side of the field, earning a run. Ryleigh Smoot then hit another run. Lindsay Cavey (3-for-5) tricked the infielders with her fielder’s choice, resulting in the eighth run being scored. Riley Price chose a distant spot in left field for the ninth run.
