Mario Tennis Fever: A Complete Guide to Unlocking the Full Roster
Get ready for Mario Tennis Fever! Have you assembled the ultimate lineup? There are 38 characters in the game waiting to hit the court, but only 18 are initially available. The remaining 20 need to be unlocked through matches, tournaments, and special challenges. But don’t worry, most of these unlocks will happen naturally as you play.
How Many Characters Are in Mario Tennis Fever?
When the game was released, Mario Tennis Fever provided players with 18 characters. The cast of characters can be expanded to 38 by meeting certain conditions.
In addition to the main cast of characters, the game also includes 20 color variants and 24 unique rackets. Many of these can be unlocked by simply playing a few more games, making the number of games one of the most important progression factors.
Characters Unlocked Through Competition
Several characters are unlocked based on the total number of games played. Match counts accrue in singles, doubles and special matches, so every match counts.
You’ll get Kamek
after your first game, which is the fastest way to unlock in the game. Keep working hard to play 50 games, and Petey Piranha
will join your team. These matches count in all modes, so just play your favorite mode.
Information
Match counts are accumulated between singles, doubles and special matches, so everything counts towards your total.
Tournament Character Unlocks
The Tournament Cup rewards Baby characters, and Nabbits. Each cup must be completed in singles or doubles.
Championship Cup Menu
Start with Mushroom Cup as It’s the easiest difficulty. As your skills improve, gradually challenge the Flower Cup and Star Cup. Playing both singles and doubles modes doubles your character’s rewards.
Trial Tower Character Unlock
The Trial Tower provides more challenging levels, and three characters can be unlocked after completing the level.
The Tower of Trickery is much more hard than the other towers. Players may need to refine their timing and positioning to pass the level. It is recommended that you try these trial towers after becoming familiar with the advanced mechanics.
Score Challenge Characters to Unlock
Completing Score Challenges on Advanced difficulty unlocks four additional characters.
Score Challenge Menu
Co-op challenges require other players. Piranha and Dry Bones can be unlocked solo. These challenges require precise timing and consistency, so it’s best to gain experience in Standard play before attempting them.
How to Unlock All Color Variants
Color variants provide different looks for specific characters. Most are unlocked through match milestones, although others require gaining an S-rank rating in Score Attack mode.
Match-based color variants
Reaching a total of 100 games automatically unlocks most color variants.
Special and S-rated variants
Hint
The S-rated variant requires precision, so practice each mode before trying to get a high score.
The Fastest Way to Unlock Everything
Players who want to efficiently unlock all content should prioritize match count first. Reaching 100 games unlocks multiple characters, most color variants, and some rackets.
Afterwards, completing the Championship Cup in singles and doubles can earn you the Baby character and Nabbit. Trial Towers and Advanced Score Challenges should be played only after mastering the mechanics. Progressing through Adventure Mode will naturally unlock its own exclusive racket.
Consistently playing across all modes is enough to unlock the entire cast of characters without having to focus on a single grind. As the player level increases, the character selection screen will naturally fill up.
