CATANIA – Another Sunday with Lungomare Fest, the appointment with sporting, recreational and environmentally friendly events that is renewed, attracting hundreds of families with entertainment on the Catania seafront from Piazza Europa to Piazza Mancini Battaglia: PHOTO. Today, in particular, it was a celebration of sport that thrilled adults, teenagers and children with roller skating but also with a foot race and walks along the seafront, initiatives promoted as part of the Sport city 2024 program, which in addition to the seafront also involved the Vulcania area, with the patronage of the municipal administration of Catania and the Sicilian Regional Assembly.
Roller day was celebrated on the car-free seafront, a spectacular freestyle skating exhibition that enthralled a large audience in the renovated Franco Battiato square, with athletes of national caliber, interpreters of spectacular sporting gestures amid applause. And thanks to the guidance of the instructors of the Italian Roller Sports Federation, for the entire day, citizens were able to skate safely or ride bicycles on the splendid seafront. There were many, especially among the kids, who used skateboards, participating in games and exhibitions promoted by the skating sports clubs present. There were also many group dances on skates, in addition to the now customary play circuits and games suitable for the little ones, with the setting up of badminton, tambourine, soccer and roller hockey fields, with the aim of accustoming them to sports from a very young age, organized by Sport e Salute and in synergy with the regional Coni.
“A wonderful day of fun and entertainment – commented the Sports Councilor Sergio Parisi – with many citizens who once again appreciated the choice of the municipal administration to combine the closure to vehicular traffic with events and attractions, especially sports, thanks also to the extraordinary commitment of the regional vice president of Coni, Enzo Falzone. Moreover, the ban on vehicles this Sunday also involved a large part of the historic center, in conjunction with the week of sustainable mobility. I consider this day a celebration of sport, a true prologue to the important Sports Trophy that in early October will bring thousands of athletes from all over Italy to Catania, with the announced presence on October 4 of the Head of State”.
