Kumikata Judo Club Stars Shine at French 2nd Division Championships

Two Athletes, One Goal: National Glory

Two judokas from the Kumikata Judo Club in Lunel-Viel, Esteban Frich and Raphaël Masotti, ventured into the national spotlight at the French 2nd Division Judo Championships held in Villebon-sur-Yvette on May 17. Among the elite French judokas, these two athletes had earned their spot in the prestigious event that gathered the country’s top talents.

Masotti’s Early Exit

Despite facing formidable opponents in a category with 101 judokas, Masotti couldn’t surpass the group phases. His journey ended with a loss to the eventual French champion’s runner-up, highlighting the极高kompetition that these championships upheld.

It is a very big disappointment for them, but we managed to make them understand that they made a good journey to reach the Grand Dome of Villebon-sur-Yvette, in the big leagues. They missed the experience of the high level, but it will come. Congratulations to both, the club is proud of you. Romuald Frich, President of Kumikata Judo Club

Frich’s Standout Performance

Frich, however, shone brightly in the tournament, managing to secure a spot in the final stages despite facing tough competition in a category with 81 judokas. His impressive run came to an end in the first round of the final stages when he was defeated by the eventual vice-champion of France.

Lessons Learned, Pride Unwavering

Despite the setbacks, both athletes held their heads high, having represented their club and town with determination and courage on the national stage. With the experience gained from this high-level competition, they will undoubtedly return even stronger, pushing for the coveted national titles.
