Prior to his arrival in Boston, Tiant played six years in Cleveland and one year in Minnesota. Throughout his career, he managed to win 229 games, of which 122 were with the Red Sox; He also accumulated a 3.30 ERA and 2,416 strikeouts. He stood out by making 187 complete games and 49 shutouts, including four seasons where he achieved more than 20 victories.

Tiant was selected to three All-Star Games and joined the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 1997. He is also a member of the Hispanic Heritage Hall of Fame. Despite being considered for the Baseball Hall of Fame on multiple occasions, he did not receive enough votes to be included, which was cause for reflection for him. In 2008, he shared with ESPNdeportes.com: “I think I deserve to be in Cooperstown, but if they don’t pick me while I’m alive, don’t try after I die.”

Tiant left an indelible mark on baseball and his legacy will live on among the fans who admired him.
