Local Tennis Player Quentin Villé Claims Victories, Invests in Future of the Sport
Published: March 4, 2026
Recent Tournament Successes
Quentin Villé recently achieved success at the Bertrige tournament, winning in both the men’s singles over 35s and mixed doubles categories. His victory in the men’s singles was slightly impacted by his opponent’s injury, but he expressed great enjoyment in the mixed doubles competition, partnering with his goddaughter, Lucie.
We were not favorites neither in the semi nor in the final, but we are really doubles specialists by being very offensive and loving interceptions at the net.Quentin Villé
From Player to Coach and Back Again
Villé’s journey in tennis has been multifaceted. He previously held a coaching position at the Federation center in Mons, working with promising young players, including David Goffin and Germain Gigounon. He ultimately resigned from the position due to the extensive travel requirements.
My contract included an obligation to travel with the young people, 25 weeks a year, to the four corners of the world. Adding the 280 km daily round trip between Paliseul and Mons, it was too much for me and my family. I have no regrets, but if I had been confined solely to physical preparation, without the travel, I would probably have made a different decision?Quentin Villé
After a period away from competitive play, Villé returned to the sport, currently holding a negative rank (B-2/6) and aiming to improve to B-15. He attributes his success to an atypical playing style focused on disrupting his opponents’ game.
Investing in the Next Generation
Villé is also dedicated to coaching the younger generation in Libramont, alongside Pierre-Yves Ninane. While they have faced challenges due to limited infrastructure, plans are underway to expand facilities, with new indoor courts expected to be completed by the end of 2026 or beginning of 2027. The goal is to attract back talented players who have sought training elsewhere.
The goal is to repatriate them in 2027 to play nationally.Quentin Villé
Villé is also preparing to compete in regional 1 with a strong team including Constantin Zervakis, Thibaut Tocino-Collier, Espen Jerouville, Simon Everarts, and Mathéo Martin.
