British & Irish Lions Gear Up: Roaring Past zwei Super Rugby Teams

British & Irish Lions in action against Queensland Reds

The British & Irish Lions have started their Australian tour with a bang, racking up an impressive 16 tries and 106 points in their first two games. Butaccording to skipper Maro Itoje, this is just the beginning. The English lock, who was instrumental in the team’s victories over Western Force and Queensland Reds, insists that the Lions need to be sharper and more accurate as they gear up for their three-Test series against the Wallabies.

Dominant Display in Queensland

In their latest encounter, the Lions followed up a 54-7 rout of Western Force with an equally impressive 52-12 victory over the Queensland Reds on Wednesday. They scored eight tries in each game, crossing the line a total of 16 times. Although the Super Rugby teams were missing key Wallabies, the performances were an ominous sign for the Australian national team.

Itoje Leads from the Front

“We have to be better rugby players,” said Itoje, who won nine lineouts and scored a try against the Reds. “We need to be sharper and more accurate. We broke the line a number of times but weren’t always accurate enough to score.”

Itoje was pleased with the progress made by the team, even though they let in tries within the first 10 minutes in both games. Once they found their rhythm, however, they ran riot, scoring 80 points without conceding in the second half of the two games combined.

Farrell Sees Room for Improvement

Coach Andy Farrell acknowledged areas for improvement, notably their handling errors. But he was buoyed by how they performed once they found their flow. “When we were flowing, we played some really good stuff. We defended pretty well, and our collision work was pretty good,” he said.
