At IFA 2024, Lenovo announced new The new Yoga and IdeaPad laptops which, mostly compatible with Copilot Plus features, will hit the market between September and October. A total of eleven models were presented, ten of which are part of the Yoga, IdeaPad, ThinkPad and ThinkBook series.
The eleventh is the interesting prototype of a convertible PC Auto Twist AI which, equipped with a motorized mechanism, switches autonomously from one mode to another when this is requested by the user. It has the ability to understand natural language and this is thanks to the artificial intelligence that is also the basis of other functions of a concept that is undoubtedly futuristic.
Lenovo’s news for the big tech fair in Berlin doesn’t stop at hardware. It also includes the launch date and features of the Creator Zone software, an AI tool with advanced image generation and editing capabilities.
LENOVO YOGA SLIM 7I AURA EDITION
The result of a close collaboration with Intel, the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition is a 15-inch Evo-certified laptop designed to support the new Core Ultra 200V processors with Lunar Lake architecture. It therefore features a 48 TOPS neural unit (NPU) that guarantees full support for the advanced AI features Copilot Plus.

LENOVO IDEAPAD 5X 2-IN-1 E SLIM 5X
Let’s move on to the new features of the IdeaPad series which is enriched with two 14-inch models designed for two different types of audiences. The first is in fact a 2-in-1 convertible with touch panel and MIL-STD-810H resistance certification while the second is a classic laptop. However, we are talking about devices that are very similar to each other in terms of hardware specifications.
Commonalities between the two laptops include the 8-core Snapdragon X Plus processor with 45 TOPS NPU, the 1920 x 1440 OLED panel (standard on the 2-in-1 and optional on the standard model), the 57 Wh battery, most of the connectivity, audio, webcam and storage options.
The two models are also similar in size and weight, but they differ in color, memory, and cost. LENOVO IDEAPAD SLIM 5 15 E SLIM 13
Both new IdeaPad Slim 5s are standard laptops and do not feature significant differences in terms of design, but they are still aimed at different targets. After all, the first is a classic 15-inch model, while the second is a 13-inch ultraportable which has greater portability on its side. However, it is limited compared to its bigger brother in terms of maximum memory, battery capacity and screen options.
Specifically, the 13-inch model stops at a maximum of 16 GB of memory, makes do with a 54.7 Wh battery and is only available with a 60 Hz LCD screen with 1920 x 1200 resolution. The new generation 15-inch IdeaPad Slim 5 can instead mount up to 32 GB of memory, has a 70 Wh battery and allows you to choose between a panel similar to that of the smaller model and one OLED with 2560 x 1600 nits resolution, 165Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 gamut coverage.
The common features instead concern the Ryzen 7000 processors with integrated GPU but without NPU, up to 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and connectivity, not exactly the latest generation, but quite rich. In fact, it has 4 USB ports, two of which are Type C with Power Delivery, an HDMI 2.1 output, a microSD reader, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. THINKPAD X1 CARBON GEN 13 AURA EDITION E T14S GEN 6 AMD
Equipped with the same Smart functionality of the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition, the new ThinkPad X1 will initially be available only in the UK, Germany, France, the Nordics and Switzerland. The luxurious 14-inch laptop, which weighs less than a kilogram, includes the new Intel Core Ultra 200V processors with a 48 TOPS NPU that is more than enough for Copilot Plus features, a 120Hz Dolby Vision OLED display with 2.8K resolution and a haptic technology option for the TouchPad.
Specs also include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, optional sub-6GHz 5G connectivity, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a 57Wh battery. All of that crafted with sustainability in mind which translates to a Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) battery, plant-based packaging, and the use of 90% recycled magnesium for the chassis.
The ThinkPad line is also enriched with the T14s Gen 6 based on AMD Ryzen AI PRO processors next-generation. Other notable features include a 1920 x 1200 display with 400 nits of brightness, a new dissipation with rear exhaust, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 5G sub-6GHz, 4 USB ports, up to 64GB LPDDR5X memory, promised battery life of over 17 hours.
In this case recycled materials amount to 30% in the case of the carbon fiber of the cover, 90% in relation to the magnesium used for the keyboard frame and 55% for the aluminum used in the lower part of the chassis. It also uses recycled PCC plastics.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition will be available starting November 2024, but only in the UK, Germany, France, Nordics, and Switzerland. The expected starting price is Of 2.699 euro excluding VAT. November will also be the month of the AMD ThinkPad T14s Gen 6, coming globally with a starting price expected Of 2.199 euro excluding VAT.
THINKBOOK 16 GEN 7+ E GEN 7
The ThinkBook 16 Gen 7+ is designed depending on the Ryzen AI 9 365 processor and features a 16-inch display with 3.2K resolution. Specs include a large 85Wh battery, WiFi 7 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4, Dolby Atmos speakers and, returning to the CPU, a 50 TOPS neural unit that far exceeds the requirements of the Copilot Plus PC.
Instead, we are talking about 45 TOPS for the processor of the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7, like the new IdeaPad 5x developed to leverage the new 8-core Snapdragon X Plus. However, it promises greater autonomy thanks to an 84Wh battery which is part of a comprehensive package that includes super-linear Dolby Atmos speakers and next-generation wireless connectivity.
The Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7+ is rumored to launch in December and has a starting price of 999 euros excluding VAT. The Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 will instead be available as early as October 2024 with a starting price expected of €819 excluding VAT.
LENOVO AUTO TWIST AI (CONCEPT PC)
The Lenovo Auto Twist AI automated convertible laptop prototype features a motorized mechanism Dual Degree of Freedom thanks to which it is able to open, close and change modes without the need for human intervention. Just ask it by voice. The device in fact uses artificial intelligence to understand natural language.
Furthermore, thanks to artificial intelligence, the futuristic 2-in-1 is able to detect the user’s presence so that the screen automatically aligns with your gaze, ensuring the best possible view, and closes automatically when unattended.
LENOVO CREATOR ZONE
Also coming in October is the new Lenovo Yoga Creator Zone software, an AI tool with the ability to generate an image from a description (text-to-image), a sketch (sketch-to-image), or another image (image-to-image).
It also allows you to use the capabilities of artificial intelligence to merge two images or to retouch them. Editing options include changing specific details, backgrounds, colors, and more. It’s coming October 15 as an optional download for Yoga Pro 9i laptop owners. It will be made compatible with other Yoga series devices later.
