Future Remains Unclear for NBA Icon

INGLEWOOD, CA – LeBron James offered little clarity on his basketball future Sunday, responding to questions about potential retirement with a simple desire to live. The statement came during a press conference before the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, where James is set to make his 22nd appearance – an NBA record.

James held his own individual news conference after opting out of Saturday’s broader All-Star media day availability.

“I Want to Live”

“I want to live,” James responded. “When I realize, you guys will know. I don’t know. I have no idea. I just want to live, that’s all.”

The response prompted speculation that James might have news to announce, but he maintained he had no further information to share.

Still Performing at a High Level

At 41 years aged, James continues to demonstrate a high level of play. Through 36 games this season, he is averaging 22 points, 7.1 assists, and 5.8 rebounds for the Los Angeles Lakers, who entered the All-Star break with a 33-21 record and in fifth place in the Western Conference.

James recently became the oldest player in NBA history to record a triple-double.

Potential for a Farewell Tour?

While James’ future remains a mystery, speculation exists regarding a potential retirement tour. Some suggest a possible return to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a third stint.
