Lanzarote’s Cabildo Auditorium hosted the Spanish U-23 Badminton Championships. This event will be held this weekend for the first time on the island at the IES Cabrera Felipe facilities, in Arecife, where 54 island and international participants will compete.
The presentation ceremony was attended by the Minister of Sports of the Insular Corporation, Juan Monzon. Florentin Rodríguez, president of the Canarian Badminton Federation, and Oliver Gausman, president and event director of the Oria Badminton Club, will also be present, as well as Jacobo Medina, vice president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
The Minister of Sports, Juan Monzon, valued the “sports strategy in Lanzarote with more than 500 federation licenses”. “This meeting will help to put our island on the international sports calendar,” he said with confidence, confirming that “Lanzarote will be a successful experience and attraction to become a favorite place for other events.”
Likewise, “The Insular Sports Service has found material to ensure the success of the badminton tournaments in Lanzarote.”
“This material will be loaned to the Cabildo of Tenerife in the coming months to organize a new Spanish Badminton Championship in the Canary Islands, thereby promoting the practice of this discipline,” emphasized Juan Monzon.
The tournament will begin on Friday, November 22 at 3:30 am with the first two qualifiers. On Saturday, November 23, at 10:00, the quarter-finals and semi-finals will be held, and on Sunday, November 24, the men’s and women’s singles and doubles finals will be held in the men’s and women’s mixed doubles.
Lanzarote Cabildo strengthens its commitment to promote national and international championships that allow the recognition of talent and island discipline.
