Badminton Action Begins in Lima
The Lima Badminton Open 2026 commenced today, March 5th, and will continue through March 8th at the Sports Center 2 of La Videna in Lima, Peru. The tournament, organized by the Peruvian Badminton Sports Federation with support from the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), marks the start of the National Circuit for the discipline.
Over 200 Athletes Compete
More than 200 participants from across Peru are competing in the tournament. Among the contenders is Naomi Junco, identified as a potential frontrunner in the ladies’ singles category and a member of the IPD Athlete Support Program (PAD). The PAD program, under the leadership of IPD president Sergio Ludeña Visalot, aims to enhance the international preparation of Peruvian badminton players.

Lima will continue to host badminton events in April. The city is scheduled to host the XXIX YONEX Pan Am Individual Championships 2026 from April 7th to 10th, the largest individual tournament on the continent and a part of the BWF world circuit. Following that, on April 11th, the Pan Am Air Badminton Cup 2026 will take place, serving as a qualifier for the BWF World Cup.

Lima is also preparing to host the Inaugural Virtus Americas Regional Games from October 2nd to October 11th, 2026.
