Wonkwang University professor Kim Dong-mun (48), who is known as a living legend in the Korean badminton world, has officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Korea Badminton Association.

Professor Kim released a statement on the 13th, saying, “I want to run for the presidential election and start the challenge of creating a new and emerging badminton.”


He bowed his head in relation to 2024 Paris Olympic gold medalist Ahn Se-yong’s decisive comments and said he would use it as an opportunity to turn around Korean badminton.


Professor Kim said, “As a badminton player, I am very sad about the current situation and I feel sorry for the fans and the public. They are wrong practices and not in line with the trend of the times.”


He made a call for support saying that he is a firefighter who saves the union in the chaos.


“I don’t think the current situation is a badminton crisis,” Professor Kim added. “Changes and Challenges”.


Professor Kim specifically promised to reorganize regulations to improve the performance and rights of players, establish a fair opportunity system, run a communication system between the association and athletes, promote elite sports and lifestyle sports, and establish a transparent financial operation and accounting system. .


Current chairman Kim Taek-gyu’s term expires until the regular general meeting of delegates scheduled for February next year. The specific election schedule has not been confirmed yet.
