The rebounding deficit has been a recurring problem for Kansas, highlighted in recent losses to both Cincinnati and Arizona. Both teams grabbed 14 offensive rebounds against the Jayhawks. Self acknowledged that Arizona physically wore [Kansas] down over the course of the game.

Darryn Peterson’s Performance

Despite the team’s overall struggles, coach Self defended star player Darryn Peterson, who contributed 24 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two blocks against Arizona. Self stated he didn’t believe Peterson played poorly, attributing any slow start to missed shots rather than a subpar performance.
