Julian Quiñones to Join Mexican National Team for Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinals

Mexico City / 08.11.2023 16:22:47

Julian Quiñones will be the surprise addition to the upcoming roster announced by Jaime Lozano to face Honduras in the Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinals. This crucial match will determine the direct qualification for the America Cup scheduled for 2024 in the United States.

The talented striker from America has completed all the necessary paperwork to be recognized as a Mexican citizen. Additionally, FIFA has granted him the endorsement to represent El Tri. The long wait is finally over, and Quiñones will receive his first call-up to join the Mexican offensive line. It is highly likely that he will make his debut either in Tegucigalpa on November 17 or at the Azteca Stadium on November 21.

It is worth noting that during the previous FIFA Date in September, Quiñones trained alongside the selected players at the High Performance Center. This allowed him to adapt to the team’s environment and dynamics.

Other Players Included in Jimmy Lozano’s Squad

Jimmy Lozano has not included any new faces in the squad for the upcoming matches against Honduras. His intention is to continue working with the players who participated in the previous FIFA Date, where Mexico faced Ghana and Germany.

Players such as Guillermo Ochoa, Luis Malagon, and Antonio Rodriguez have been consistently considered by Lozano throughout his tenure as the coach. Therefore, Carlos Acevedo will have to wait for his return to the national team.

All the players currently playing in Europe will also be called up, including Julian Araujo, who missed the last friendly games due to an injury. Araujo will now have the opportunity to compete for the position with Jorge Sanchez and Kevin Alvarez under Jimmy’s guidance.
