Last Saturday the annual Judo Safari of the Budo department took place in the dojo of the TV Eiche sports center. 30 children between the ages of 5 and 14 who are active in the disciplines of judo, taekwondo and kung fu took part in the event.

At the Judo Safari, the children not only demonstrated their fighting skills in judo, but also their artistic talents through drawings, pictures or collages as well as their sporting skills in disciplines such as running, ball throwing and standing jumps.

The participants were divided into two age groups: 5 to 7 years and 8 to 14 years, supervised by trainers Bruno and Héloïse Barbier.

After a short warm-up, the safari started with the running competition, in which Bülend Kaya and Klym Kolesnykov were the fastest in their age groups. Erfan Ramihudoev and Sascha Kolkesnykov proved to be the strongest when throwing the ball. Bülend Kaya and Klym Kolesnykov once again proved to be the best in the standing jump.

The conclusion was the so-called Japanese tournament, in which fights are based on size. The smallest participant starts and competes against the next tallest. The winner stands and fights the next challenger until they either lose or achieve five wins in a row, which means the maximum number of points. Matteo Wilhelmi, Erfan Ramihudoev and Klym Kolesnykov achieved this.

At the same time, the children’s artistic works were evaluated by a jury of parents. The most outstanding works came from Alexander Menden, Emma Ritterhaus, Thorben Becher and Marion Barbier.
