Inclusive Judo: Alliance Dojo 71 Leads with Para Judo Label & Exceptional Outreach
In an inspiring display of inclusivity and commitment, Alliance Dojo 71, a judo club in the Saône-et-Loire department, has opened its doors to individuals with mental and physical disabilities. This dedication has not only transformed the lives of 16 judokas with disabilities but also earned the club an Adapted Para Judo Label from France Judo this season.
Integrating Disabilities into Judo
“For two seasons now, our club has decided to open its doors to people with mental and physical disabilities,” said a club representative. This initiative is not just about participation; it’s about integration. Disabled judokas are fully incorporated into the dojo, practising daily alongside able-bodied judokas. They also participate in traditional judo classes, with several courses available in Joncy and Montceau.
“This makes 16 judokas with disabilities who practice Judo daily within the Alliance Dojo 71, these are considered all judokas and participate in activities in which they can flourish.”
From Judo Workshops to Tug of War: The Saint Marcel Event
The club’s latest outing in 2025 was an event organized by theDepartmental Judo Committee in Saint Marcel. The day was packed with activities that catered to all levels of ability:
- Morning sessions included a common warm-up followed by four groups participating in standing judo workshops, floor exercises, and standing floor connections.
- Afternoon sessions featured a common warm-up and three groups engaging in opposition workshops. Activities ranged from standing and ground randoris to sumo, chambara, and tug of war.
The judokas’ enthusiasm was evident throughout the day, as they fully immersed themselves in each activity.
Looking Ahead: Dijon in March
The next event for Alliance Dojo 71’s judokas is scheduled for March in Dijon. The club continues to advocate for inclusivity and encourages more sporting organizations to embrace diversity.
