Judo Chancelade’s Rising Stars Shine Brightly After Record Membership Growth

Chercuzac, France – Judo Chancelade is experiencing a remarkable period of growth, marked by a significant increase in membership and outstanding achievements by its young athletes. The club, a hub for Judo and adaptive para judo, saw a dramatic rise this year, surging from 98 licensees last season to approximately 130 members – a testament to the sport’s growing popularity and the club’s welcoming atmosphere.

Impressive Results from Recent Competitions

The club’s young talent demonstrated their skill and determination during the weekend of April 5-6, competing in various events. These performances have fueled the club’s momentum and highlighted the dedication of its members and coaching staff.

Géraud Bouchard de la Poterie’s Victory

Among the standout performers was Géraud Bouchard de la Poterie, who achieved a remarkable victory in adaptive para judo. He secured a vice-championship title in Nogent-sur-Oise, in the cadet category (less than 55 kg), despite only being in his second season within the discipline. “Géraud is an integral part of the association,” explained Marie-Laure Ducher Morcillo, president and professor of Judo Chancelade. “He fully embodies the club’s ethos of inclusion, regularly training with our adult members under the guidance of Christophe Luciat, our technical director.”

Honoring a Young Talent

“He had moved to Hauts-de-France with his parents and Éric Drouault, club assistant,”

The club celebrated Géraud’s success on Tuesday, April 8, recognizing his dedication and achievements. The event, held in the Judo room in Chercuzac, brought together his fellow members, technical staff, parents, and friends. Géraud’s selection into the higher weight and age categories in January marked a significant step in his Judo journey.
