Jeremy Sochan’s Injury: A Blow for Poland Ahead of Eurobasket
Jeremy Sochan’s Withdrawal from Eurobasket
In shocking news for basketball fans worldwide, Poland’s Eurobasket campaign has been dealt a major blow. Jeremy Sochan, a rising star in the sport and a crucial member of the Polish national team, has been sidelined due to a calf injury.
“On Saturday, a meeting took place between the representatives of the national team, the Spurs, the family of Jeremy and his agent,” a statement from the Federation read. “It was collectively decided that the best health solution of Sochan would be his return to San Antonio to follow a rehabilitation.”
Sochan’s Impact and Poland’s Eurobasket Hopes
Sochan’s absence will be acutely felt by the Polish team, who had reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup and were considered one of the favorites for the Eurobasket. The 22-year-old, who played a crucial role in their unexpected run last year, has been ruled out of the tournament set to take place from August 27 to September 14.
Grouped in group D, Poland’s journey in Eurobasket will start against Luka Doncic’s Slovenia on August 28, followed by a high-profile clash against the French team on September 2.

Although this is a setback, the injury is not expected to keep Sochan out for long. He is expected to be fit in time for the start of the NBA season, where he will continue his partnership with fellow draft pick and teammate, Victor Wembanyama.
