Jannik Sinner made it into the semi-finals of the Masters tournament in Miami on Wednesday evening (CET). There will now be a big reunion with Daniil Medvedev.

The Russian beat the Chilean Nicolas Jarry (ATP 28) 6:2 and 7:6 on Thursday night (CET) and is also in the round of the last four. Jannik Sinner had already made it to the semi-finals with a two-set win against the Czech Tomas Machac.

Sinner and Medvedev are playing against each other for the first time since the Australian Open final. On January 28th of this year, the South Tyrolean secured his first Grand Slam title in Melbourne after overcoming a 0-2 set deficit against the Russian. Now Medvedev is aiming for revenge in Miami. It is the duel between number 3 (Sinner) and 4 (Medvedev) in the world.

The record of the two in the direct duels is a curious one: Sinner had lost all of the first 6 matches against Medvedev before the Pusterer was victorious four times. But in Florida the clocks are set back to zero on Friday evening (CET). It is not yet clear when exactly the game will take place. The other semi-final could be Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev. But the Spaniard and the German first have to overcome their quarter-final hurdles on Thursday.
