annik Sinner, Italy’s tennis sensation, has taken the world by storm since his emergence on the circuit. But few know of his humble beginnings and the life-altering decision he made at the tender age of 13.
From Ski Slopes to Tennis Courts
Born into a modest family in Talschlusshütte, Sinner’s parents, a waitress and a chef at the local ski station, fostered his love for sports at an early age. At just eight years old, the young prodigy won the national championship in Giant Slalom. His skiing prowess was evident, but so was his love for other sports like soccer and tennis.
At 12 years old, Sinner climbed another ski podium, this time as the runner-up. He continued to excel in skiing, but a realization changed his course:

In skiing, if you make a mistake, just one big mistake, you can’t win. In tennis, you can make mistakes, lose points, and still win the game.– Jannik Sinner”
At 13, Sinner traded his skis for a racket and moved to Riccardo Piatti’s training center, haited by his competitive nature.
Priority: ATP Ranking

After losing valuable points in semi-finals against world no.1 Novak Djokovic, Sinner has decided to forgo the Games’ opening ceremony to focus on regaining ground against the young contender, Carlos Alcaraz.
The next opportunity to challenge Alcaraz comes in Qatar, where Sinner will focus his preparation.
