Jake Dennis Shatters São Paulo Curse, Wins From Pole in Formula E
Andretti driver Jake Dennis has rewritten Formula E history by becoming the first driver to win the São Paulo E-Prix from pole position, ending a long-standing curse at the Interlagos track.
“This is massive,” exclaimed Jake Dennis, the Andretti driver who broke the São Paulo curse. “Good strategy, a good car, and good track position – that’s the formula for success today.”
Curse of Interlagos
Up until today, no driver had ever won the São Paulo E-Prix from pole position. Dennis, starting at the front of the pack, faced countless challenges throughout the race, including a chaotic lead battle and a Red Flag following Pepe Marti’s crash.
“I felt like it was ours before the Red Flag, but you never know what’s going to happen in Formula E.”
Jake Dennis
Dennis ultimately proved too strong for his competitors, including Oliver Rowland, who couldn’t catch the Andretti driver during the race restart. Dennis crossed the finish line to secure his first victory of the season.
