Shanghai Kids Celebrate International Yoga Day 2025 with Awareness Session
Shanghai’s Indian community came together to celebrate the upcoming International Yoga Day 2025 with a special ‘Yoga Awareness Session for Children’ organized by the Indian Consulate in Shanghai. The event, held as part of a 50-day countdown to the international day of yoga, saw enthusiastic participation from local Indian children.
Learning Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation
During the session, children learned various yoga activities, pranayama, and meditation techniques. They also gained insights into the benefits of yoga, particularly its theme this year, “Earth, Yoga for a Healthy planet.”
“It is very important to make yoga a part of life since childhood. Yoga is the key to a healthy and balanced life,” said Prateek Mathur, the Consul of India in Shanghai,referring to the international yoga day theme “Earth, Yoga for a Healthy Planet.”

Government’s Global Yoga Promotion Initiative
The event is part of the Indian government’s international initiative to promote yoga worldwide. At its conclusion, all participating children pledged to practice yoga daily.
International Yoga Day 2025 is celebrated annually on June 21st, and this year’s theme focuses on raising awareness of yoga’s benefits for individual health and the environment.
