Imokilly Cruise to Victory in Cork PSHC Divisional Semi-Final

Imokilly made light work of Avondhu in the Co-Op Superstores Cork PSHC Divisions/Colleges section semi-final at Church Road last Saturday evening, securing a dominant 2-32 to 1-17 victory.

Early Domination

Imokilly started the game like a house on fire, registering the opening five points in just five minutes without Avondhu even attempting a score. This trend continued throughout the first half and into the latter stages, with Imokilly’s superior class on display.

Scoring Blitz

  • Imokilly scored 13 points from 15 first-half attempts.
  • Avondhu struggled, with eight wides and only two different scorers.
  • By the 25th minute, Imokilly was 12 points clear, and the rout was already well underway.

Avondhu’s Fightback Falters

Avondhu showed some signs of life in the third quarter, with Stephen Condon and James Keating getting on the scoresheet. But even their best efforts couldn’t prevent Imokilly from maintaining a healthy advantage.

Imokilly’s Persistence

  • Imokilly kept chipping away at Avondhu’s defense, adding point after point.
  • Mike Kelly and Jack Leahy were particularly impressive, scoring a combined 13 points from play in the second half.

Avondhu managed to grab a consolation goal after 61 minutes through a clever one-two between Condon and Keating. However, any hope of a late comeback was swiftly dashed when Joe Stack set up Oisin Fitzgerald for Imokilly’s second major of the game just three minutes later.
